One of the unavoidable commercials playing during NBC's Olympic coverage is for some new show with Ellen Barkin.  In the promo they are talking about the Olympics and Barkin's acerbic character makes a comment to the effect of how much we Americans like to beat those former Commie Russians (or something like that).  Isn't that the truth?  Some poor Chinese diver learned her grandparents had been dead for over a year - but the family government didn't want to disturb her Olympic training with the news, so they waited for her to win the gold medal and earn the right to mourn her dead relatives.  Makes it easy to root against them.
